Cross has two very distinct services each week. Our Sunday service, mostly attended by congregation members, includes many of the traditional hallmarks of a Lutheran church service: forgiveness of sins, children’s sermon, readings, sermon, communion, hymns, and more. (For information about our Wednesday events, visit our Bread of Healing Empowerment Ministry page.)
In addition to celebrating the standard liturgical calendar, Cross layers on many secular events, including Black History Month, Women’s History Month, Pride Month, National Latino/Hispanic Month, Earth Day, World Aids Day, Coming Out Sunday, and many more.
Members are welcome to serve in a variety of ways:

Cross operates three diverse music ensembles, each with its own personality and focus.
Focuses primarily on a joyous style of music, sung in a traditional gospel fashion, generally accompanied by piano, organ and drums. All music is learned by ear and performed without sheet music. The Community Gospel Choir is led by James.
Rehearsals: Most Saturdays, 11:00-12:00 in the Sanctuary.
Worship Sundays: 2nd and 4th Sundays
Focuses primarily on arranged choral music and hymns (often in 4-part harmony), including both traditional and contemporary pieces. Performances may be a capella or accompanied by piano or CD track. The ability to read music is not required, but is helpful as sheet music is often provided. Rehearsal tracks are also available. The Cross Praise Choir is led by director Chuck Ellingson with assistance from Emory Churness.
Rehearsals: Most Saturdays, 12:30-1:30 in the Sanctuary.
Worship Sundays: 3rd and 5th Sundays
Performs music, drama and other forms of expression in praise of God. The group consists primarily of those 18 and younger, plus a few participating adults. The Youth Praise Team is led by Judy Ellwanger and Bonnie Williams.
Rehearsals: Most Saturdays, 10 a.m. in the Sanctuary.
Worship Sundays: 1st Sunday (except summer)
